Julie Peeters
Julie Peeters is a Belgian graphic designer living in Brussels. She studied at Sint Lucas Ghent, Jan van Eyck Academie and Werkplaats Typografie. Since 2005 she’s been running her own practice. She worked on several projects and publications for clients such as the Z33, Hasselt; De Ateliers, Amsterdam, Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam, Het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam, De Appel, Amsterdam, Contour 5th Biennial for Moving Image, Mechelen, and If I Can’t Dance I Don’t Want to be Part of your Revolution, Amsterdam. From 2009 to 2012 she was art director of Metropolis M, the Dutch magazine on contemporary art, together with Joris Kritis.Currently she is responsible for the graphic identities of Beursschouwburg, Brussels (i.c.w. Joris Kritis), Kiria Koula, San Francisco, and Artspeak, Vancouver (both i.c.w. Scott Ponik).
She is particularly interested in the printed image and often collaborates with artists and photographers such as Paul Elliman, Rana Hamadeh, Johannes Schwartz, Nigel Shafran, Megan Francis Sullivan etc. Her work has been shown in exhibitions in South Korea, Czech Republic, France and Belgium. She teaches graphic design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie since 2011.
