From 2013-2018, Mandy Chan was Program Coordinator and Assistant Program Manager at Spring. Over these five years, she assisted with exhibitions and programs including Dismantling the Scaffold (2018), Sailing Through Ha Bik Chuen’s Archive (2017), Tiffany Chung and Koki Tanaka: A Collective Present (2017), Ari Benjamin Meyers: An exposition, not an exhibition (2017), Wong Wai Yin: Without Trying (2016), Wu Tsang: Duilian (2016), Days push off into nights (2015), and Islands Off the Shores of Asia (2014).
Chan also project-managed editorial, production and distribution processes for publications including ESKYIU: Industrial Forest (2017), Stationary 2 (2017), Wong Wai Yin: The ten seconds that determine whether A gets made into a work (2016), The HK FARMers’ Almanac 2014-2015 (2015), and Stationary 1 (2015). Chan was also behind the graceful aesthetics of Spring’s brochures, newsletters and published images.
Currently, Chan is Programme Leader at soundpocket, a registered charity that promotes the art of sound and listening via research and education in Hong Kong, and she continues to explore the various cultural contexts in which art gives meaning to our daily lives.
Chan received her bachelor’s degree from the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong in 2013, majoring in Critical Intermedia Laboratory. Since graduation, she has been collecting fragments of everyday life and studying them via the medium of photography, slowly archiving and reorganizing these elements as a kind of creating.
